This proposal for the Museum of Contemporary Art in Panama (MAC) transforms an urban void into a vibrant cultural landscape.
Conceived from a sectional perspective, the building integrates with the site through an artificial topography that organizes the program into strata according to its uses and/or needs: the lower levels house technical and administrative functions, freeing up the surface for public space.
The park is established as an articulating element, extending over the roof like a fifth, accessible façade that amplifies the urban experience. Based on this foundation, the exhibition volumes are configured as neutral, flexible, and adaptable containers.
The museum as an extension of the park: an integrated cultural infrastructure.
Finally, the project is conceived as an architecture responsible to its environment, integrating passive strategies suited to Panama's tropical climate: a constant relationship with the outdoors. More than a building, the museum is an open cultural infrastructure
where landscape, architecture, and city
intertwine to create an inclusive, dynamic, and contemporary experience.
