Every year on October 21st the streets of the historic Portobelo, in the province of Colón located on the Caribbean side of the country, filled with hundreds of curious visitors, photographers, and devotees who come to pay tribute to the Black Christ, as Jesus Nazareno is affectionately called. Fans walk long distances through the streets with candles, rosaries, huge crosses to offer to "NAZA" or black Christ when they arrive at the Portobelo church, to thank them. Others to fulfill their penances for sins committed crawl through the streets and their relatives or acquaintances pour hot wax to demonstrate their suffering and repentance for the sins committed. Every year it gets stronger and more public, on the main street of approximately 21 km but narrow, filled with photographers to capture and this folk and colorful culture.
