BEACH HOUSE - Viento Frío, Colón

- Project in progress -

GENERAL LOCATION - PRE EXISTING READING
The design arose from the client's needs, "a simple deck" hence the reading of not wanting to have walls in the project, to open up towards the view offered by the lot facing the sea, lift it from the floor to allow ventilation to circulate through it and give it a level of security, since the house is in a remote urban context. The deck structure was the next design aspect that was developed, giving character to the project and making it the main image. Playing with the heights of the roof to create different planes, allowing the facades to be opened according to the use of the pre-existings of the place, offering a level of privacy and security. Since it is located in front of the Viento Frío cemetery that faces the lot entrance, the idea arose that the roof should be born from there to close this frontal facade and avoid being exposed, turning it into the back of the project to open it towards the sea, giving more height and importance to the common area of the house, proposing a feeling of spaciousness.

3D PERSPECTIVES
The materials that were chosen were under the premises of cost, a fast construction, with local materials and a low maintenance, that do not generate great changes under natural climatic conditions, like nitrate that you find in salt sea water. Concrete is used as the general and punctual structure, it is also used for the ornamentals, which allow ventilation to pass across and offers security, it is used as the envelope of the private areas such as the core of the staircase and the entrance of the house, deposit and bathroom. All the furniture located in the common area are exposed to sight is all fixed permanent. Another of the materials is wood as the roof structure to give that language to the project and aesthetics, the roof is covered with natural dry leaf (palm leaf), a very natural element that is used in rural houses, to give it the feeling that nature is born from soil towards the roof surrounding the house. Since the house does not have walls as an envelope, wooden or fiber blinds were designed for the rain, creating a rhythm with the frames independently, to frame the views and give it a natural movement that will transform according to the comfort levels. These frames also avoid the need to put railings in the project and to be able to give that feeling of connection with the context, and the simplicity towards the architectural language..
